RESORA
life gets better when you do
Issue No. 12
The Opener
Something shifted outside. The days got longer. The weather got warmer. People seem to be moving a little differently, a little easier, like the season gave them something you did not get.
And you are still here. Carrying the same things you were carrying in February. The same tiredness. The same to do list. The same quiet weight that does not seem to care what month it is.
There is a specific kind of loneliness in that. When the world around you seems to lighten up and you just stay the same. When summer arrives and instead of feeling it, you mostly feel like something is wrong with you for not feeling it.
Nothing is wrong with you. The calendar changed. Your life did not. That is allowed.
A Real Moment
Most people do not get a summer. Not really. The bills are the same. The work is the same. The things they are dealing with did not take June off. Summer is just the name of the season they are going through all of it in.
But there is something about seeing everyone else seem lighter that makes your own weight feel heavier. Like you are doing something wrong by still being in it. Like if you were handling things well enough, you would be able to feel the season the way other people seem to.
That is not how it works. Seasons change on a schedule. The hard stuff in your life does not.
Something You Can Use
Stop measuring how you feel against what the season is supposed to feel like. Summer is not a mood you are required to be in. It is just weather.
This week, instead of trying to match the energy around you, just ask yourself one question. What would actually feel good to me right now? Not what looks like a good summer. Not what other people seem to be doing. What do you actually need this week to feel a little more okay.
That answer matters more than whether you are making the most of the season.
A Moment for You
Go outside for a few minutes if you can. Not to do anything. Not to be productive or get fresh air in some intentional way. Just to stand in it for a second.
Feel whatever you actually feel. Not what you think you should feel. If it is nice, let it be nice. If it does not do anything for you today, that is fine too. You showed up. That is enough for right now.
Something to Sit With
What would this season look like if you stopped trying to feel it the right way and just let yourself feel it your way?
Your version of summer counts. Even if it looks nothing like anyone else's.
You are not failing at summer. You are just living your actual life during it. And your actual life, with everything it contains right now, is not something you need to apologize for or push through faster so you can get to the lighter version of yourself.
Life gets better when you do. And sometimes doing just means getting through the season without pretending you are somewhere you are not.
